The Pedersen Brothers – Douglas Victor QX30556, Leslie Campbell QX21196, Leonard Waldemar QX30549 – Wooroolin WW11 Honour Board
These young men all grew up at the family farm just outside Wooroolin with their 5 siblings Christian, Godfred, Clifford, Dorothy & David. Their parents being Godfred Pedersen and Maggie Rainey.

Leslie Campbell Pedersen born 3 Sep 1914 at Kingaroy was educated at Wooroolin School – Pupil Number 505. He enlisted in the Australian Army QX21196 on 6 May 1941 at Gympie and was discharged from 2/15 Australian Infantry Battalion on 26 Feb 1946.
Leslie served at: Middle East – 27 Jun 1941 to 27 Feb 1943, New Guinea – 28 Jul 1943 to 10 Mar 1944 and New Guinea – 18 Jun 1945 to 10 Feb 1946. The story of the 2/15 Infantry Battalion can be read on the AWM link below:
Leslie married Thelma Taylor at the Kingaroy Presbyterian Church on 25 Sep 1955 and they lived and farmed at Dangore and Wooroolin. Leslie died in 2006 and is buried at Taabinga Cemetery with his wife who joined him 3 years later.

Douglas Victor Pedersen born 2 Apr 1919 at Wondai was educated at Wooroolin School – Pupil Number 584. He enlisted in the Australian Army QX30556 on 17 Mar 1942 at Brisbane in the 17 Employment Company and died on 5 Jul 1943 at Maryborough Hospital from Weils Disease. Leonard Waldemar Pedersen born 5 Dec 1920 at Kingaroy was educated at Wooroolin School – Pupil Number 615.
He enlisted in the Australian army QX30549 on 17 Mar 1942 at Brisbane and was discharged from the 17 Labour Company on 4 Jul 1943. Leonard’s records are not yet available on the NAA website but show his Mother Maggie as Next of Kin.
I see that Leonard/Lennard lived most of his life in Nth Queensland and died in Atherton on 16 Oct 2011 aged 90. He is remembered at Atherton New Lawn and Monumental Cemetery.
Their brother Christian enlisted at same time as the others but was rejected on medical grounds (varicose veins) for which he had many operations during his life…he remained on home farm.
