Leading Aircraftman Ernest Edward Leo Phillips 53420 of Number 36 Squadron was shot with a .303 rifle (deliberately) by another airman in the single men’s quarters in Aitkenvale, Townsville
The shooter was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to five years hard labour and discharged from the RAAF
