Sergeant Maurice Bert Proven 401050 RAAF and Sergeant Lee 401769 RNZAF of 100SQN RAF were killed when Vickers Vildebeest K6386 was shot down near Endau, Malaya - their bodies were not recovered and they are commemorated on the Singapore Memorial
Sergeant Graham Wolseley McCabe 408064 RAAF survived and became a Prisoner of War - he was discharged from the RAAF in December 1945
(First flown in 1928 the RAF Vickers Vildebeest was a large single-engined biplane used as a light bomber - the last few examples in service were flown against invading Japanese forces in Singapore and Java in early 1942)
