The details provided are taken from the book "1000 Men at War" the history of the 2nd/16th Infantry Battalion, published 1959, refer to page 58. George was born 8th Oct 1909, and prior to the war he was a barman of Manjimup WA. He served with the 2nd/16th Inf Bn. Unfortunately, he was Killed In Action 9th June 1941. Rest In Peace. PRIVATE George H. (Goog) Robertson is reported killed in action in Syria. Born in Pinjarra 31 years ago, Private Robertson went to Newcastle Street (now Junior Technical) school where he was captain of the football team and also champion swimmer. He was a prominent footballer in the south-west, played with the Manjimup team. In a recent south-west carnival he was in the Warren team. He enlisted from Manjimup where he had been working. Attached to the 2/16th Battalion, he did his training at Northam camp. Private Robertson was not married. He was one of the third generation of the Hymus family. His grandparents lived in Pinjarra. His brother Colin is also in the A.I.F. He is attached to a mechanised unit.
