Military Cross

'At Semakh, on 25th September 1918, he was in charge of a section of machine guns with the advance guard, when the enemy opened fire with a machine gun barrage on the regiment. He handled his section excellently, greatly assisting the cavalry charge. By the time the squadrons had formed line, he had a terrific fire bearing on the enemy's position. He did fine work.'

Capt. J. S. Robinson
The death occurred suddenly yesterday, of Captain John Selwyn Robinson, M.C., at the age of 55 years, a member of the 16th Garrison Battalion who  had been stationed at Hay since December, 1940. Capt. Robinson, who was a native of Australia, served in the last war, being decorated for gallantry.  He had spent about ten years in the Norfolk Islands and had been in various towns in N.S.W. prior to joining the colours after the outbreak of the  present war. He was apparently quite well yesterday, but collapsed in the afternoon and died last evening. The funeral is being held this afternoon, the  interment being in the Military Cemetery at Hay.
