The wreckage of the RAAF Catalina in which Ron was a crewman, although lost in June 1944 near Namlea, Buru Island in the Moluccas, was found in June/July 1994. Members of Ron's family including his brother Ross, sisters Joyce and Beth (and husband) and a nephew were flown to Ambon for the burial service.
