Prior to enlistment Clifton Roby was working as a miller in Matraville NSW. He signed up on the 26th of June 1940 and was posted to the 8th Division HQ AASC arriving in Malaya on 17th May 1941. He was listed as missing on the 28th of February 1942 aged 25.
