Flight Sergeant Christian James Waldemar Rothe 422713 was killed in the loss of Wirraway aircraft A20-456 of Number 4 Operational Training Unit while on a solo flight. The starboard wing tip struck the ground while the aircraft was flying away from the target during a practice dive-bombing exercise near Williamtown Aerodrome, New South Wales, Australia
