Frederick was in the 1st Independent Company and was captured soon after Rabaul fell on 23 January 1942. He died when the MS Montevideo Maru was sunk by an American submarine on 1 July 1942. Rabaul Memorial, within Bita Paka War Cemetery. Panel 11. Papua New Guinea.
