Son of George and Lucy Salter; husband of Eunice Agnes Salter, of Jondaryon, Queensland, Australia.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF A BELOVED HUSBAND R.I.P.
Mrs. Eunice Agnes Salter, wife of Flight Sergeant-Observer Russell George Salter, has received Information from the Casualty Section of the Department of Air notifying her of the death of her husband in England. His funeral took place, with full service honours, at St. Heanton, Punchardon, near Qaunton, England, on August 17. At the age of 26, he enlisted in Brisbane and entered the services early In September, 1941.
He was married to Miss Eunice Agnes Cooke, of Jondnryan, on September 22, 1942, 10 days before he left Australia for Canada.
He arrived in England about January 10, 1943. His only brother, L.A.C. Bernard Salter, is serving with the R.A.A.F. at a northern station.
Deceased was born at Inglewood, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Salter, now reside at Acland. He was educated at the Acland State School and later at the Toowoomba Grammar School. He was very popular in the Kingaroy district and on the Downs.
When he was on leave in Canada, he went to New York and spoke over the air to Australia. As soon as he arrived in England he was transferred to the R.A.F., where he had been promoted to Flight-Sergeant. While in England he spent leave in London and Scotland. He was killed on August 13, 1943, near Barnstaple, England, as a result of air operations. He was a member of the crew of a Wellington aircraft.
