Wallace Proctor SANDERSON was born in Murgon, Queensland on 13th September, 1920

His parents were Hugh Wilson SANDERSON and Margaret Wallace PROCTOR who married at Carbeth Lodge, Killearn, Glasgow, Scotland on 12th September, 1918 - Hugh was given special leave to return to Australia in November, 1918

Wallace enlisted at Galloways Hill, Queensland on 14th December, 1938 with the Citizens Military Forces as a Lance Corporal and was promoted to Sergeant & Lieutenant - he later embarked with the 61st Infantry Battalion (AIF) on the ship Swartenhondt from Townsville, Queensland on 30th July, 1942 - he served with the CMF from 14th December, 1938 to 20th February, 1941 & then transferred to the AIF

Wallace married Beryl RICKARD on 7th April, 1942 in Queensland

He was Killed in Action at Milne Bay on 26th August, 1942 and buried in Milne Bay War Cemetery and later reburied at the Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Roll of Honour in Brisbane, Queensland

His Father Hugh Wilson SANDERSON was born in Glasgow, Scotland & came to Australia in 1911 and also served in WW1 (SN608) & returned to Australia in 1918 and later enlisted for WW2 (SN Q202602) with the 4th Battalion, Volunteer Defence Corp in Queensland - discharge date not known

His Mother Margaret Wallace PROCTOR was born in Stirlingshire in Scotland

His brother David Proctor SANDERSON (SN QX63716) also served in WW2 in the Australian Army and was discharged in 1946
