The Kings Medal
The Kings Medal started back in 1924. He Won the Kings Medal in 1927, 1929, 1931 & 1933, he was the only man to have ever one the Kings Medal 4 times.
He was part of the Australian Team that went to England in 1924 to compete in The Empire Rifle Challenge Trophy July 22nd, 23rd, the Australians won with a phenomenal score of 2,248 points out of a possible 2,400.
James firing at 300,500,600,800,900, and 1,000 yards, 10 shots at each distance, registered 292 out of a possible 300 points. His worst shot was a Magpie at 1,000 yards, and during the whole shoot he left the bull's-eye only seven times. The highest possible score for each distance is50 points, his scores were:- 300 yards 48, 500 yards 48, 600yrds 50, 800 yards 50, 900 yards 48, 1,000 yards 48.
In the course of the match he scored 30 consecutive bull's-eyes.
