406412 Sergeant (Sgt) Jack Marawa Shiner, RAAF, of Pallinup, WA worked as a newspaper journalist and schoolteacher before enlisting in Perth on 9 December 1940.
Following training as an Air Observer in Australia, he was detached to the RAF in the Middle East on 9 September 1941.
After service in Kenya, he was based at Almaza, Egypt, from 17 February 1942.
He is presumed to have died on 30 March 1942, at the age of 29, after the ferrying flight of which he was a crew member failed to arrive at its destination.
