A man of judgement, a clear thinker and straight-forward speaker, Jim has exerted a strong influence in public discussion, and his options have always been recieved with great respect even by those who may not have agreed with them.  His broadminded attitude in public life is clearly shown by the many institutions and organisations of district scope which he has actively and liberally supported.

These included Tatiara Memorial Ambulance Service, Tatiara Memorial Park, Tatiara Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Tatiara Drainage trust, and Tatiara Fire Fighting Association just to name a few. Reliability has been a constant characteristic of Jim Campbell.  He can always be counted on to "pull his weight", whether it be a working bee or any civic responsibility where duty calls.  A modest and unassuming man, jim has always shown the highest qualities of sportsmanship on the playing field and in "the game of life'.  In every sense of the phrase, he has been and still is a solid citizen".
