Reported Missing
Flight Sergeant Victor Stuckey,who was on the staff of the Lismore branch of the Commonwealth Bank before joining the forces, has been officially reported missing,
believed to have lost his life, during air operations on December 12. Flight Sergeant Stuckey served with the A.I.F. before transferring to the R.A.A.F. in October, 1942. After training in Canada he proceeded to England and took part in many operational flights over
enemy territory as a member of a Lancaster aircraft.
A member of the Northern Star Cricket Club during his stay in Lismore, he had many good performances to his credit in second grade, and afterwards played several games in the first grade team before enlisting. He was a prominent member of the Lismore Methodist Church and interested himself in Christian Endeavour
work. Flight Sergeant Stuckey is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Stuckey, of Camden, where he
was born 27 years ago. He has many relations in the Lismore district.
Final Mission: - 15 Squadron's Avro Lancaster I (HK627) aircraft, with an aircrew of seven, took off during the day from RAF Mildenhall for an air operation flight over the steelworks of Witten, Germany. HK627 was shot down by flak, crashing near Witten and taking the lives of the entire crew.
