Biography

Montrose Edward SUBLET was born on 26th August 1914 in Perth, Western Australia

His parents were Harry SUBLET and Rose Nixon HOWARD

He enlisted on 3rd Feb. 1941 with the RAAF - 

Flight Sergeant Sublet was serving as a wireless operator with 244 Squadron ( RAF )when the Blenheim aircraft he was on board developed engine problems shortly after take off from Masirah aerodrome in the Middle East on 15th July, 1943.  The aircraft crashed when the pilot attempted to land and all on board were killed.  He was initially buried in the Masirah Island Cemetery but he was subsequently exhumed and re-interred in the Basra War Cemetery, Iraq.

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Roll of Honour in Perth, Western Australia

His brother Lieutenant Frank Henry SUBLET (SN WX1598) MC  served in the 2/16th Battalion and was discharged in 1946
