Air Gunner (WAG) Sergeant Gordon John Thame 403609 was the only casualty following an aerial attack on his aircraft by a Japanese fighter over Timor. RAAF Lockheed Hudson A16-232 of Number 2 Squadron in company with two other squadron aircraft launched from Batchelor, NT for an offensive sweep over Timor - upon returning to base the aircraft made a belly-landing due to the loss of hydraulic power.
