Son of William John and Marjorie Elaine Victoria Thompson, of New Farm, Queensland, Australia.

HIS DUTY FEARLESSLY AND NOBLY DONE. EVER REMEMBERED

The death is reported of Pilot Officer Ivan Thompson, a native of Merriwa, and only son of the late W.J. Thommpson and Mrs. Thompson.  Death occured in England on Januey 15. Pilot-Officer Thompson, who had only just received his commission, was flying a Lancaster bomber which crashed over Lincolnshire.  The father of the deceased was a cler to the Merriwa Shire Council from 1917-1923.

He will be remembered in Quririndi as the son of Mrs. N. Bannister (now Mrs. Bennett, of Brisbane) and was a tower of strngth as a rugged forward in the school footbal team, and an active member of  St. Alban's Church of England.

Ivan Lindsay Thompson, 429081, Lancaster Bomber pilot, accidentally killed Lincolnshire, England, late gunner, 2/1 Medium Battery Regiment, R.A.A., A.I.F., served Darwin and Middle East, son of late W. J. Thompson, and loving brother of Sylvia, and nephew of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Thompson, 2 Norwood  Avenue, Lindfield. We will remember them.
