LAC Thomson 423564 from Number 1 Air Observer School based at Cootamundra was killed in the loss of Avro Anson aircraft DJ497 south of Wagga Wagga

The other crew on board survived the incident: Pilot Officer Tolcher 426713 (discharged from the RAAF in November 1945) / Sergeant Edenborough 412122 (discharged from the RAAF in January 1946) / LAC Thomas 428825 (discharged from the RAAF in January 1946) / LAC Sproge 427266 (died 27 March 1944 in Ireland)
