Son of Gabriel Andreas and Mary Elisabeth Thorbjornsen, of Fremantle, Western Australia.

Private Charles Thorbjorsen, third generation of a well-known Fremantle family, is reported to have been killed in action. Private Thorbjorsen was 24, was the only son of  Fremantle lumper Gabriel Thorbjorsen, and grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carlson, who lived in Fremantle. Born and educated in Fremantle, he was single and before enlisting worked  on a farm at Yealering. Private John Mellowship, an uncle of Private Thorbjorsen, was wounded in Bardia but is now back at the front again.
