Killed In Action

LIEUT. B. TIMMS, OF COBDEN
It is with deep regret that we announce the death of
Lieutenant B. Timms, formerly of Cobden, and the first
local soldier to be killed in action. Lieutenant Timms was 26 years old, and the only son of Mr and Mrs H. Timms, Castlemaine. He was a cousin of Mrs. A. Havard, Cobden, with whom he had been staying for
some time, when he enlisted. Before he joined the A.1.F., he was a Corporal in the Cobden platoon of the 23rd/21st battalion A.M.F. Lieutenant Timms was as
fine a soldier as he was a civilian, and was held in the
highest esteem by all who knew him. In his honour, the flag at the shire hall, Cobden, was flown at half mast, yesterday.
