Charles Philip Williams TRICKETT was born on 17th July, 1914 in Campsie, Sydney, NSW

His parents were Charles Thompson TRICKETT and Alma Mary WILLIAMS

Charles married Olive Agnes Victoria LAWRENSON in 1940 in Sydney & had one son, Dennis Philip TRICKETT

He enlisted on 12th June 1940 as  Private and worked his way up the ranks to Lieutenant - his last Unit was the 2nd/23rd Infantry Battalion

He embarked from Cairns, Queensland for Morotai on the ship "Lindsay M Garrison" on 3rd April, 1945 and then proceeded to Tarakan on 22nd April, 1945

Charles was Killed in Action at Tarakan on 6th May, 1945 & is buried in Labuan War Cemetery in Borneo (Plot 29, row C, Grave 6)

The inscription reads:

'TILL THE MORNING BREAKS, AND THE SHADOWS FLEE AWAY"

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial, the Honour Board at the North Shore Gas Company 1939-45 & the Roll of Honour in Burwood, Sydney, NSW

Death of NX25620 - Lieutenant Phil TRICKETT

Lieutenant Phil Trickett was originally taken on strength with the 2/30th at Tamworth on 22nd Nov. 1940.  He was transferred out of the Battalion in August, 1941 following attendance at Officer Training School.  He then went to  the 8th Infantry Training Battalion and was appointed a Lieutenant on 20th Dec. 1941.  After postings to various other Training Battalions, he moved to the Specialist Jungle Training Depot in Lawanna, NSW in December, 1942.

On 10th May, 1944 he was posted to 2/23rd Battalion which was headed for New Guinea.  They embarked at Cairns on 3rd April, 1945 in the US Transport ship "Lindsay M Garrison" and at Morotai they transferred to various small landing ships for transfer to Tarakan

Lieutentant Trickett was killed in action at Tarakan on 6th May, 1945
