Pilot Officer Arthur Edwin Turner 406191 and Sergeant Gordon Stewart Howiss 400202 of 36SQN RAF were killed when Vickers Vildebeest K6392 was shot down near Endau, Malaya - also killed was Sergeant Tanner 41503 RNZAF
(First flown in 1928 the RAF Vickers Vildebeest was a large single-engined biplane used as a light bomber - the last few examples in service were flown against invading Japanese forces in Singapore and Java in early 1942)
