Able Seaman Kenneth Royston Turner RAN 21604 of HMAS Maryborough.
Kenneth was the son of Robert and Selina Turner of Narrogin WA. He had enlisted in the RAN for 12 years in 1937 and had served on the sloop HMAS Swan before becoming a member of HMAS Maryborough’s commissioning crew in June 1941.
He served on Maryborough in South East Asian waters during the invasion of Malaya and the Netherlands East Indies, Maryborough being one of the last Australia warships to escape from the NEI. This was followed by extensive patrols in the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf.
