80SQN RAAF Kittyhawk aircraft A29-1145 flown by Flight Sergeant Hoare 431566 and A29-1214 flown by Flight Lieutenant Vallance 401058 were posted as missing while flying from Balikpapan to Tarakan in Borneo

Flight Lieutenant Vallance is commemorated on the Labuan Memorial as his body was not recovered.  FSGT Hoare is buried in Labuan War Cemetery
