Son of George and Fanny Walker; husband of Mary Alison Walker, of Darling Point, New South Wales, Australia.

Acting Commander Jefferson Hirst Walker, M.V.O., D.S.O., R.A.N., commanding officer of the Parramatta, was well known in Adelaide. His wife was formerly Miss. Mary Cheadle, daughter of Mrs. A.S. Cheadle of Tynte Street, North Adelaide and the late Mr. Cheadle. At the outbreak of war Commander Walker was District Naval Officer for the Northern Territory and was awarded the D.S.O. during his war. Entering the R.A.N. College as a cadet midshipman in 1914, he went to sea as a midshipman in January 1919. His promotions were to Lieutenant in 1922, Lieutnean-Commander in 1930, and acting Commander in September 1941. He specialised in naviagation.
