Warrant Officer John Hendry Maurice WATSON was the son of John Andrew Watson and Minna Pauline (nee Maurice). He attended the Buranda Boys State School and then the Gathas Agricultural College in Queensland. John enlisted on 1 February 1942 and on 14 December 1942 he married Margaret Joyce (nee Nielsen). A few weeks later he was sent to Canada to undertake training prior to arriving in the Middle East in November 1943. John lost his life on 14 December 1944 whilst a member of a Wellington air crew involved in a flying battle over Italy.
He had been a clerk in the Accounts Department of The Residential Assurance Company Limited prior to enlistment.
