Oliver Chaplin was born in 1901, he was a miner and lived in Broken Hill.

He enlisted on the 1st December 1914.

He first got injured/sick on 3/12/1915 which was an injured left knee. He then returned to duty in Eqypt 1916. Oliver Chaplin was in and out of the hospital from 1915 to 1918. He spent most of his time in hospital due to sickness. He had dizziness, pain in his legs, weakness, weak sight, and headaches.

He was discharged on 18 April 1918 after 3 years and 39 days of service. 

He received the British War Medal, the Victory medal and the 1914-1915 Star medal.

Oliver Chaplin died 7th A.G.H 15th September 1924 at the Keswick hospital.
