Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Private Arthur Weeks (Service No:WX17575) enlisted in the Army on 6 November 1941 - one of four siblings who served in WWII (older brothers Thomas (2/28th Infantry Battalion; PoW), and Alfred (2/28th Infantry Battalion, died whilst a PoW), and Harry). Private Weeks served in the Middle East with 2/28th Infantry Battalion from August 1942 to January 1943 and in New Guinea from August 1943 to February 1944. He was at Brunei Bay in May 1945 when he was KiA.

Born in 1921 in Coolgardie WA, Arthur was the third of five children (sons) of Thomas weeks (b1883 in London, England) and Sarah Jane Wilson (b1884 in Londoon, England). Thomas (a Copper Barrel Maker at a Brewery) and Sarah married in 1912 in Surrey, England and in 1913 were living at Williams, WA. Thomas was rejected for enlistment in the AIF in 1914 as 'unfit for military service' and he and Sarah lived at Williams, Darkan, Narrogin and Glen Forrest in Mundaring where Thomas worked as a Labourer and Railway Repairer.

Arthur was working as a Dairyhand at Glen Forrest in Mundaring in 1941 when he enlisted in the Army.
