Private William Leslie Wembridge was 25 years of age and a son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wembridge, farmers, of Warragul, Victoria. Born at Belgrave, he was educated at Notre Dame de Sion Convent, Warragul. Prior to enlistment he was a grocer's assistant at Jindivick, and a prominent footballer in that district.
