John Frederick Aylwin WHITCHER was born in Southend on Sea, Kent, England on 9th December, 1908

His parents were Charles John Frederick WHITCHER & Florence WELCH who married in England in 1902

He enlisted in Royal Park, Victoria on 7th August, 1941

John was with the 2/14th Transport Platoon in the Australian Army Service Corps

He died of Illness in Queensland, Australia on 15th December, 1944 and is buried in the Atherton War Cemetery in Queensland & his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
