Plane was Mosquito A52-29 crashed at Saltash, NSW while taking part in an air to ground gunnery exercise. The probable cause was structural failure of the port mainplane
Between 1 January 1944 and 30 June 1944 Francis had flown 294.35 hours in various aircraft
Prior to enlisting he was employed with the Australian Broadcasting Commission
