Enlisted in WW1 aged 18 (born 1899) as part f 23rd Battalion, reenlisted in WW2 (with incorrect age)

Posting on Death: 2/23rd Infantry Battalion, he was killed in action in Egypt and is recognised as one of the Rats of Tobruk.
He is commemorated on the Roll of Honour in Brunswick Vic, also his name is located at panel 51 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial (as indicated by the poppy on the plan).
Son of Fredrick and Annie Windley; husband of Eva Eleanor Windley, of West Brunswick, Victoria, Australia.
