Flying Officer Alan Henry Wood 402145 was seriously injured when Liberator aircraft AL558 of Number 120 Squadron (RAF) crashed near RAF Station Nutts Corner (Ballykelly, Belfast, Northern Ireland) on the 4th of May 1942
Sergeant Donald William Alexander 402336 RAAF was also seriously injured but survived and was discharged from the RAAF in August 1945
SGT James Frank Gooder 939026 RAF was killed and CPL O'Reilly 573941 RAF was injured in the crash
On the 16th of June 1942 Flying Officer Wood was diagnosed with pleurisy and placed on the dangerously ill list at the RAF Officers Hospital in Torquay, England
On the 25th of October 1942 the hospital was hit during an air-raid by the Luftwaffe and Flying Officer Wood was killed
Pilot Officer Robert Herbert Chapman 412481 from 460SQN was also killed in the bombing of the hospital
