Biography

Henry Boxall was born in 1870 in the small township of Moliagul, 200 km Northwest of Melbourne. He was the son of Charles and Fannie Boxall (nee O'Flaherty).

 

He was a clerk residing in Albert Park when he enlisted to fight for Queen and Empire. Henry had served as a soldier of the Queen for a mere ten days prior to the death of HM Queen Victoria. Following the Accession, Henry automatically became a soldier of HM King Edward VII.  

 

Australia had been Federated for less than two weeks before he enlisted. The Colony of Victoria in which he was born and raised became one of the six Federated States, forming the new Commonwealth of Australia.  

 

Henry was promoted to Lance Corporal on 30 March 1901.  He was posted MIA. Henry was later confirmed to have been KIA on 17 April 1901. Following a Military Court of Inquiry. His medal entilement is the QSA. Lest We Forgot.
