Henry Martin BUDD was born in Derby, England in 1878

His parents were Henry Samuel Herbert BUDD and Cicely Horcholle ARMSTRONG who married in 1872 in London

He had previous service in the Manly, NSW Corps of the New South Wales National Guard before he enlisted to serve in the Boer War with the 1st NSW Infantry, E Squadron which changed to the 1st NSW Mounted Rifles

Henry died of Enteric Fever at the No. 6 General Hospital in Naauwpoort South Africa

His name is memorialized on the Manly Boer War Memorial along with another Boer War soldier from the district
