Franklin Harcourt LEGGE was born in Chichester Sussex, England on 1st February, 1876

His parents were James Henry LEGGE & Ada Jane WAY who married in the Isle of Wight in 1862 - the family arrived in Sydney in 1878 onboard the ship Windsor Castle from London

The family settled at Woodport, NSW - Franklin was a Polic Constance at Dubbo when he enlisted to serve in the Boer War

He embarked on the ship Southern Cross on 17th January 1900 with the 1st NSW Mounted Rifles (C Squadron)

Franklin died of Enteric Fever on 20th May, 1900 at Bloemfontein

He was awarded the Queens South Africa Medal with 2 clasps
