Born:  17th June 1880 - Macedon, Victoria, Australia; Reg No:  17009/1880; Reference:  Victoria BDM Registry - Family History Research.

Miltary:  Private, John McCORKELL, S-No:  727; Pre-WW1-Boer War, Colonial Military Forces; Unit:  5th Victorian Mounted Rifles.

Death:  21st January 1902 - Wakkerstroom, Mpumalanga Region, Sth Africa; Reference:  (AWM) Australian War Memorial - Roll of Honour.

Burial:  Wakkerstroom Cemetery - Wakkerstroom, Mpumalanga, Sth Africa.  Reference:  (CWGC) Commonwealth War Graves Commission does recognise this as a War Cemetery, as there is also a Memorial for "Pre-WWI-Boer War" within the grounds of Wakkerstroom Cemetery.  Even though "Private - John McCORKELL", is not listed -his name not recorded- for the (CWGC) listing of Wakkerstroom Cemetery, there is (1) recorded listing of a war man buried; furthermore (CWCC) has stated there are "73 War Casualties" buried within the grounds of the Wakkerstroom Cemetery - Kerk Straat - Wakkerstroom, Mpumalanga Region, South Africa.  VISIT-Website:  (CWGC) Commonwealth War Graves Commission - Find War Dead /or Cemeteries or Memorials; Cemetery - Wakkerstroom Cemetery.
