    He was buried in a grave by the men he commanded, situated between those clumps of Australian wattles, the large wooden cross bearing his name at its head, with full military honours. 6WAMI Medical Report.

Evacuated by ambulance cart for a three day trek to Middel Kraal, where Lt Reid died of his wounds six days later on 29 June 1901.

    Lt Stanley Spencer Reid played 24 games with Fitzroy FC in the VFL between 1897 and 1898, including the 1898 Premiership.
