Robert Alick SPIDEN was born in Maryborough, Queensland on 31st August, 1881

His parents were Robert SPIDEN & Margaret nee BROPHY

He died of pneumonia in Brisbane General Hospital on 17th August, 1901

We mentioned in a recent issue that Trooper Alick Spiden, of the Thinoomba district, who had returned from South Africa in the Drayton Grange, was lying dangerously ill in the Brisbane Hospital, and we now regret to record that he died there on Sunday, from pneumonia, one of the victims of the scandalous overcrowding of the Drayton Grange.  He was a fine young fellow, eldest son of Mr. Robert Spiden, of Wedderburn, Thinoomba, and was just 21 years of age.  He was not only a member of one of our best known and most respected country families, but was highly esteemed in the Wide Bay and Burnett district, in which he had grown up.
