Add my storyBiography contributed by Maurice Kissane
Charles Thomas Elisha Turner was the eldest son of Robert and Frances Turner of Mangain in New South Wales. He was born in Wagga Wagga District as per his attached 1876 Birth Registration Record.
He likely enisted to serve King and Country as he was a good horseman who could ride and shoot. Hence he passed the strict selection test to make the cut for the final 3rd NSW Mounted Rifles draft.
He campaigned on the veldt for ten months before falling victim to the ever present enteric fever. He succumbed in No 5 Stationary Hospital in Bloemfontein on 21 March 1902. Ten weeks before the war ended.
Charles was 25 years old as per his attached Family Death Notice.
Lest We Forget.
