John was serving with the AATTV at the time of his death and had only been in country 39 days. 

"310089 Warrant Officer 2 John Garrigan, Australian Army Training Team Age 40, Born England. He drowned when his Armored Personnel Carrier struck a submerged object crossing the the Cua Viet River and overturned in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam on the morning of 27th December 1968.
