Biography contributed by Kerry Daly

Always proud of his war efforts, and very loyal to his fellow soldiers. Saw the fun side of most situations. After the war, he was successful in a ballot for a sugar cane allotment (open to returned servicemen), at Abergowrie, in the Herbert River Valley, north west of Ingham. Cleared the virgin scrub/jungle to establish a profitable farm. Had a nickname for almost everyone... you felt left out if he didn't give you one. Was very active in the local community eg Abergowrie Progess Association, Primary school P&F. Whenever the Herbert river flooded, and it seemed to do so annually, Aub would always be there, crossing the river in a tiny "tinnie" to collect bread and milk from the Ingham side of the river, and drive throughout the community delivering it. Loved being with his fellow ex-servicemen on Anzac Day, and as it was a soldier settlement area, ex-servicemen were everywhere. A significant loss to the community when he died from a very rare condition at 42... was still playing cricket- A grade and B grade up to a fortnight before his death.
