PRIVATE M. BYRNE
(Died of wounds) was a native of Trafalgar, 25 years of age, and the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Byrne, who are among the oldest residents in that  part of Gippsland. He had been twice wounded, the second injury proving fatal. He was a lad of splendid physique, being robust, agile, and athletic,  and altogether a fine sample of a young Australian farmer.
