Although his attestaion paper states he was born in Putney, his birth registration was actually some miles distant in St George Hanover Square which spans the boundaries of the counties of London and Middlesex.

He was 35 and the son of George and Agnes Gill; husband of Laura J. Gill, of "Valala," Essex St., Fremantle, Western Australia
