Edgar (Eddie) was the fourth of eight children of Aldfrit Anton Andersen (born 1889 in Pialba, QLD) and Eileen Scott (born 1893 in Gympie, QLD). Eddie married Thora May Veal (born 1915 in Gympie, QLD) and was living in Wynnum, QLD and working as a Storeman when he enlisted in the Australian Army in 1943. Eddie was a Craftsman (Service No: QX29381) with 17 Field Regiment. His brothers Desmond Noel (Service No: QX35961/Q101619) and Arnold Niel (Service No: QX27920) also served in WWII
Following his Discharge in November 1945, Eddie and Thora lived in Sherwood in Brisbane, QLD where Eddie worked as a Labourer. In the early 1960s the family moved to Coorparoo in Brisbane, QLD and Eddie worked as a Baker until his retirement. He and Thora then moved to Gympie, QLD where Eddie died in 2004
