Private William George Andrews (Service No:Q141821) enlisted in the ACMF on 26 May 1942 and served with 1 Australian Garrison Battalion. Private Andrews was Discharged on 20 November 1945. Older brother Alfred served in the RAAF (Service No:76737).

Born in 1909 in Sapphire nr Townsville QLD, Bill was the second of seven children of Alfred John Andrews (b1884 in Launceston, Tasmania) and Eliza Gregory (nee Boreau; b1889 at Alpha. QLD). Alfred (a Miner) and Eliza married in 1907 in Sapphire, QLD. In 1910 Alfred started wotking for QGR and worked in Blair Athol and Canoona nr Rockhampton as a Ganger and Harvey's Siding where he was a Lengthsman. 

Bill worked as a Truck Driver in Maryborough, QLD where in 1930 he married Dulcie Christina Lawson (b1912 in Maryborough, QLD). Bill and Dulcie lived in Maryborough before settling in Rockhampton after WWII. Bill was a Waterside Worker at Keppel, and died in 1983 in Rockhampton QLD. Dulcie died in 1985.
