Youngest of the three brothers (Ken and Len) who served in WWII, Private Frederick William Bailey (Service No:Q273091) enlisted in the ACMF on 27 July 1944. Private Bailey served with 1 Garrison Battalion, 19 Infantry Training Battalion and 13/33 Infantry Battalion, and was attached to 7 Ordnance Vehicle Park at Discharge on 18 December 1946.

Born in Brisbane QLD in 1926, Fred was youngest of seven children of Frederick William Bailey Snr (b1896 in Ipswich, QLD) and Esther Henricksen (b1896 in Gooburrum via Bundaberg, QLD). Frederick and Esther married in 1917 in Brisbane QLD, where they settled and raised their family - Frederick worked as a Furniture Remover, Carter and Manufacturer.

Fred was a Factory Worker in Brisbane when he enlisted in the Army in 1944. Returning to Brisbane following Discharge, Fred worked as a Labourer and in the mid 1960s married Ellen Medland (nee Kulick; b1926 in Cairns QLD) - Ellen worked as a Dental Assistant in Cairns before her first marriage, and was living in Ashgrove in Brisbane when she and Fred married. The couple settled in Brisbane, where Fred worked as a Welder. Ellen died in 1986 and Fred in 2004.
