He married Olive Isabel Margaret KERR on 28th May, 1936 in Queensland

His stepbrother Noel Desmond BAMBLING (SN Q16238) died on 7th December, 1942 in Papua

Another stepbrother Reginald Harley BAMBLING (SN QX6943) also served during WW2 and was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal - he was discharged on 14th September, 1945
