Biography

"My Father"

Harry William Bampton was born in Shepparton, Victoria. His parents were William George Bampton and Bessie Toms. He was one of eight siblings, being  the only one to be born in Victoria.

After the family moved to Queensland they settled in the picturesque hinterland town of Mapleton where he attended Mapleton State School. He would ride to school on horseback with two or three of his brothers or sisters on the same horse. The family lived very close to the tourist attraction of Mapelton Falls National Park, which I'm sure was a great place for he and his brother's to go looking for adventure. - Hazel Boel
